Run a competition in every branch, without a single entry slip
A branded counter stand your customers scan or tap to enter on their own phone. No box of paper slips, no typing them up afterwards, and no wondering which shop actually pulled its weight. Every entry lands in one list, tagged with the branch it came from.
How it works
Your customer points their camera at the stand on the counter, or taps it. No app to download.
Your name, your prize and your rules, on their own phone, while they are still standing in your shop.
Name, and an email address or a mobile number. They tick to accept your rules, and they are in.
Export the whole list to a spreadsheet whenever you like, and run your draw from it.
The competition opens on the date you set and closes itself on the closing date. Outside those dates the stand simply says no competition is running at the moment.
Better than a box of slips
Everything a paper competition costs you in admin, guesswork and unreadable handwriting.
You see which branch is winning
Every entry carries the branch it was captured at, and the portal keeps a running tally per branch. You can tell the shop that is promoting it from the shop that left the stand behind the till.
Entries you can actually read
Customers type their own details on their own phone, so the email address is spelled the way they meant it. Export the list to a spreadsheet at any point during the competition or after it closes.
Consent recorded properly
Accepting the rules and agreeing to marketing are separate ticks, each stored with its own timestamp. You end a competition knowing exactly who agreed to hear from you again, and when.
A reason to come back tomorrow
One entry per person per day, up to fifty in a competition. Every extra visit improves a customer's chances, which is a quiet reason to walk past your door again rather than somebody else's.
Nothing to hand out
One stand per counter covers every customer who walks in, for as long as the competition runs. There is nothing to reprint when the slips run out on a Saturday morning.
The stand you may already have
It is the same branded counter stand as our Google review stands. A stand points at one destination at a time, so we point yours at the competition while it runs.
What you decide
A competition is four things, and they are all yours.
One competition runs at a time across your branches, so every shop is promoting the same thing and no stand ever shows two offers at once.
Tell us about your competition
Tell us how many shops you have and what you would like to give away, and we will come back to you within one business day with what it takes to get the stands on your counters.
Frequently asked questions
How does a customer enter the competition?
They scan the QR code on the counter stand, or tap it if the stand is NFC. Your competition opens on their own phone with your name, your prize description and your rules. They fill in their name and an email address or mobile number, tick to accept the rules, and they are entered.
Do customers need an app?
No. The stand opens a normal web page in the phone's browser. Any modern iPhone or Android reads a QR code with the built-in camera, and an NFC stand is a tap for phones that support it.
Can one person enter more than once?
Yes, once a day. A customer who comes back tomorrow can enter again, up to fifty entries in one competition, so repeat visits improve their chances. A second attempt on the same day is turned away politely and invited back the next day.
Will I know which branch the entries came from?
Yes. Each stand belongs to one branch, so every entry carries the branch it was captured at. The portal shows the tally per branch while the competition runs, and the branch name is a column in the export.
Does Taplink draw the winner or contact the entrants?
No. Taplink captures and organises the entries. You export the list as a CSV and run your own draw, and any contact with entrants is yours to make. Nothing is sent to a customer automatically.
What about consent and my marketing list?
Accepting the competition rules and agreeing to marketing are two separate ticks on the form, and each is stored with its own timestamp. The export has a column for both, so you can see exactly who agreed to hear from you and when they agreed.
Can I use the review stand I already have?
It is the same hardware, so yes in principle. A stand points at one destination at a time, so a stand set up for Google reviews needs to be pointed at your competition instead. Talk to us and we will sort it out before the competition opens.
How long does it take to set up?
The competition itself takes minutes. You give us the name, the prize, the rules and the opening and closing dates, and it goes live on your stands on the start date and closes itself on the end date. Lead time on new printed stands is the same as our other printed products.
